The Show Must Go On Part 3

Hmmm...

This is almost ridiculous! December 10, 2017 (http://scatteredthoughtsofascatteredperson.blogspot.com/2017/12/the-show-must-go-on.html) December 4, 2018 (http://scatteredthoughtsofascatteredperson.blogspot.com/2018/12/the-show-must-go-on-part-2.html) and today (December 8, 2019) All carrying on with the same theme, all nearly a year apart.

Shall I give a rundown of the past year, or leave everyone in the dark? Okay, well my last journal entry was a bit negative, and I think I'll start with that:

The prostate biopsy was done on my husband  on January 7th of this year, and on January 25th we got the results. Advanced prostate cancer. Inoperable. Okay, let's get this out of the way. I knew. I knew in my heart of hearts before the biopsy was even done. I wasn't being negative. At that point, my husband had been showing signs for over 2 years, and our GP at the time outright refused to do a PSA test. Every time I took my husband to the doctor and yet another symptom presented itself, and I made the request, I was given an excuse.  I'm not going to get myself worked up over this again. Suffice to say, the diagnosis was bad. It metastasized (spread) to his lymph glands, and he has been on chemotherapy since March of this year, and he's nearly finished with his first round of radiation, which will probably be his last, given what I've learned.  Anyway, if you want all the gory details, click the following link:

Jonathan still has problems with his graft vs. host disease, but it's been tolerable, and he started a new job over the summer that is union, and he is doing well.

Daniel came for what was supposed to be a one week visit in the middle of September, and it became a totally different thing. A series of events uncovered some unpleasant truths, and as a result, he stayed with us for a month, and now he's in Moreno Valley with Justin (Child #5)  and his family (wife and 3 kids) permanently. It's really for the best, and I no longer have to worry about him and his well-being. My sister who is co-conservator of him did some things that I can't repeat due to possible legal ramifications.

Now, on to the biggest (happy) surprise of all:

In my entry on January 30th, 2016 (http://scatteredthoughtsofascatteredperson.blogspot.com/2016/01/something-to-think-about.html) I mentioned my desire to reconnect with my family. Being estranged after my Mom's death was difficult, but we really were beyond any reconciliation at the time, and I knew it.

So, between the visit to MS last year, and meeting with my older sister (Pinkey), and us talking again,  and working on healing, I finally felt better about things. Unfortunately, there was still the other one, and her daughter, and I just felt we were beyond healing and I decided I could live with that.

Well, in June, Pinkey asked me to pick her up from LAX and take her to Long Beach, and I was okay with it, but imagine my surprise when I found out it was our other sister's new place.  Suddenly, I was welcomed with open arms by someone who had previously treated me with anger and contempt.  What I didn't know then was that she has dementia, and other health issues.  In October, my niece (her daughter) approached me apologized, and asked me if I could drive her mom to medical appointments because she had suddenly started to have panic attacks when driving to appointments, and because my niece works full-time, she couldn't do it.

Let me tell you, it's an adventure! I pick her up and go in with her, and report important things to my niece.  Suddenly, I am her much-loved baby sister, and I can do no wrong. She asks me the same questions at least ten times in an hour, and I patiently repeat myself. By reminding myself that she is sick (in more ways than one) it's easy to deal with the minor irritations.

This also provides distraction from my worries, so it's a good thing.

Okay, enough for now.
