Beautiful

I don't think I mentioned it here before, but my mom (age 87) has stage III C metastatic breast cancer. She had a complete mastectomy with her lymph glands removed on her left side on January 25, 2011. Yes, it's only been about 3 months. I'm very proud of her because she's really done so well and she's maintained a positive attitude throughout it. Currently, she's going through radiation every afternoon Monday through Friday. I drive her to the hospital, then a shuttle bus takes her and several others to Hollywood for the treatments and then it brings them back. This is about them.

I've heard stories that when you die and go to Heaven, your loved ones who have gone on before you are there to greet you with open arms. If you think about it, it must be a beautiful sight to behold. I saw a very similar thing on Monday, and I'd like to share it with you:

"Miss J" is a woman in her mid 50's and she has a bubbly personality and, in some ways, is larger than life. She's the kind of woman you like instantly. Nothing keeps her down for long. She's already had chemotherapy and when I first took mom for her radiation appointment, "Miss J" smiled and promised me that she'd keep an eye out on mom. Last week, she told me that Monday was her last day. I learned by observing that there's gift-giving and tearful hugs on the last day, and I made sure to get there early to pick up my mom. Imagine my surprise when I saw a whole group of people coming towards the bus as it arrived! It was women who had gone through and completed radiation for breast cancer, and they were there to welcome "Miss J" into her life after treatment. It was a very beautiful sight and it will stick with me. I can't wait to see the group for mom. Only 2 more weeks to go!
