I witnessed the most romantic and touching event yesterday.My youngest son, age 19, surprised his girlfriend of 3 years with a wedding.
A little background:
Two weeks ago, he called me and said "Momma, I've decided that she's the one and we're getting married on the 23rd, but it's a surprise, so keep it a secret". I agreed that she was a lovely young lady and that I really do Love her to pieces, but I wanted to know who they were surprising. "We aren't surprising anyone. I'm surprising her". He went on to tell me that he told the pastor and her family, but that he was going to surprise her. I'll admit that I had my doubts that he could pull it off, but he did. Everyone started entering the tiny church at about 5:45 pm and by 6, we were all sitting quietly in the dark sanctuary waiting,. At 6:10 there was a flicker of the lights and we all stood, waiting. The lights came on again, and a love song started playing, and her little cousins started walking her down the aisle,. We all started to cry as she cried, saying, "I can't believe you did this!" She had on a tiny red satin dress and she thought they stopped at the church to pick up the music for Sunday Services (My son plays the drums).
She was really surprised and it really was touching how my son had everything perfect for the wedding. I'm really impressed and happy for the two of them. Yes, I know they're young, but I also believe that they belong together. Finally, a daughter!
